Read to Build Bridges

Book 1: Ice Song (German Title) by Miriam Körner
Qaqavii (English Title)
An adventure story of a 15 years old Emmylou with the puppy Qaqavii in Churchill, Canada.
Book 2: #LondonWhisper (only in German) by Aniela Ley
A time travelling story to London in the year 1816.

The 2 books are the books which the children (8-12 years old) of my friends are reading. In my previous post, I said that we had a memorable time together, one of the reasons was we all love books. We can talk about books from day to night. We are building bridge to each other with books. The most important tool to build bridges are mutual respect and care. When they are talking about their book, I should not speak something like this:
“Oh, I have read a better adventure fiction, Regency romances or time travel books.”

If I begin with this sentence, then it would be the death sentence for communication, for there is no space for it. I like to listen to little children by reading the books that make their imagination go wild, make them happy or sad. Listening by reading is the starting point for further exchange of ideas. Read to build bridges!

One girl said to me: “I do enjoy reading the book – Ice Song, but I don’t think it’s a must-read-book.”
PS The must-read-book of our choice is Harry Potter 1-7

What is your opinion on this topic? Do you read young adult literature?

I would be very happy to receive encouragement from you via:
