Book Review: So klingt Schubert

So klingt Schubert (DE)
Author: Emilie Collet
Illustrator: Severine Cordier
This book is my prize at a lucky draw activity on 11.12.2021

The structure of the book is based on the most famous six melodies of Schubert. To each melody, there is one lovely picture, 1-2 little sentences and a button to click on for music. That’s why its name is “Sound-Book”. Can you find the text, the picture, the button and the black bird?

This book is perfect for children between 0-3 years old. The thick paper make it not very easy been torn apart. It is really cool for little kids to press on the button for music whenever they want to independently.
The selected 6 most famous Schubert’s music compositions in this book are:

  • Forellenquintett in A-Dur
  • Militärmarsch Nr. 1
  • Klaviertrio Nr. 2, Andante con moto
  • Air russe, Allegro moderato
  • Die Unvollendete, Allegro moderato
  • Ave Maria, Ellens dritter Gesang

I asked myself, which Schubert’s music that I want to introduce to children?
Definitely “An die Musik”!
“An die Musik” would be a lifelong treasure for them, to prepare children for “grey moments in life”, they can always turn to music that recalls them about love and a better world.

What about you? Which Schubert’s music you would like to introduce to children? Please share with us in comment 😉
