“One Line a Day” is a diary I received as a gift, and I have been using it for a year now. Honestly, I did not fill in every page last year. This year, I want to be more consistent. Having five years recorded on the same page for the same date helps me reflect on my life. It helps me observe whether my daily activities still align with my initial intentions and to make adjustments to keep myself on track.
On this day last year, according to my diary, I was in Munich. I listened to a wonderful concert, met a wonderful friend for Xinjiang cuisine, and became the first listener of an album I had waited six years for.
Around this time last year, I wrote that I wanted to stick to the following plan:
5:00 to 9:00 a.m. me time, start preparing for sleep at 9:30 p.m., practice the organ, and upload one YouTube video per week.
Reflections:
If I do not have to work in the morning, or if I do not have work or activities at night, this waking and sleeping schedule works well. It is not always exactly 5:00 a.m., but I enjoy waking up earlier to have time for myself. A fun fact is that I can wake up at 5:00 a.m. easily when I do not have to work in the morning. If I do have to work, I tend to laze in bed longer.
Organ practice: I do not want to practice only for work while not investing in my personal development. I want to practice for repertoire that I want to learn and for skills that I want to improve. This will eventually contribute to my work in the future, only if I invest my time in it.
YouTube videos: Last year, I stopped posting after the 40 Days of Songs challenge. This is something I want to improve this year.
Plans for this year:
I will keep my waking and sleeping schedule as much as possible. In addition, I plan my meals, eat healthier, and move more in nature.
February organ plan: Bach’s Inventions and Sinfonias are to prepare myself by building a foundation for learning new repertoire. From March onward, I plan to learn Mozart, Mendelssohn, Bach’s E-flat, Max Drischner’s Sonnenhymnus, and Brahms.
The journey: Unfortunately, I have a smaller budget for traveling this year. Instead, I hope to spend more time editing my previous travel videos and posting them on YouTube. For book content, I will balance my reading between NetGalley, my own books, and library books. And this year’s challenge … …
Language learning in a limited timeframe: Today, I start the challenge of learning Spanish in three months. The goal is to observe how I learn and how much I can learn a new language within this timeframe.
I measured my knitting project, the oversized blanket scarf, and realized that I need nine more skeins of yarn to finish it. I restocked my yarn. From now on, I will not count how many skeins remain. I will just do One Line a Day.
