Besides my “around the world” and “non-fiction” reading plans, I also joined another two book challenges with my Instagram book friends. The challenges are “Kindle Crush Challenge” and “Neglected Faithfuls”.
The “neglected faithfuls” challenge is to read the forgotten or neglected favourite author. I would like to read C.S. Lewis’ Narnia, his non-fiction books, also books about him. I am very looking forward to reading “Becoming Mrs. Lewis” and “Once upon a wardrobe” by Patti Callahan.
The “Kindle Crush” challenge is to read my Kindle library books. I devour books, therefore, I am collecting book during Kindle 0.99€ deal once in a while. You can see my library at the second picture. I do support local bookstore whenever and wherever I can, I encourage you to do so. It is so important to have quality bookstores in every place. It is just I can’t buy every book from the bookstore, 0.99€ is a compromised solution, it is still better than piracy I think.
Peeping into my Kindle library:
Generous Justice – Timothy Keller
The Problem of Pain – C.S. Lewis
Mrs. England – Stacey Halls
A River In Darkness – Masaji Ishikawa
My Grandfather’s Blessings – Rachel Naomi Remen M.D.
Unwell Women – Elinor Cleghorn
Motherland – Paula Ramón
Tears of Amber – Sofía Segovia
Papyrus – Irene Vallejo
Glass Castle – Jeannette Walls
Henry VIII The Heart & The Crown – Alison Weir
Empires of the Normans – Levi Roach
Crown & Sceptre – Tracy Borman
Agatha Christie – Lucy Worsley
Dom Casmurro – Machado de Assis
Ithaca – Claire North
I know, my reading plan sounds exaggerated. A memory visited me recently.
After attending one lecture during my time in University of Bristol (I was doing MSc in International Development programme), I was intimidated by the reading list given by the lecturer. My mind said: “This is impossible until next week.” I asked the lecturer: “Could you please tell me the most important 10 readings, so I won’t miss them?” He replied: ”If I tell you that, you probably only read the 10 books, I would like you to read as many as possible.”
So these challenges are not something to conquer nor to show off but to encourage me to read as many as possible, to gain understanding, to transform the way I live my life, to inspire me to contribute to the society.
