Decluttering music score

I want to free myself from unnecessary baggage I am still carrying around. Today, I am decluttering my music score.

Since I have no intention to lead any choir in the future, it is easier to start with conducting related score. All loose copied choral score are gone now, I only keep the music score of Hildegard of Bingen (1098 – 1179). The memory of choir master class with Benjamin Bagby theme on Hildegrad of Bingen came back. Hildegrad of Bingen as a musician and her music was very fascinating. I can only read her score with Bagby’s transcription, that’s why I have to keep this.

It was a privilege to have sung those great oratorios in choir. I treasure the memory of rehearsal in choir. Although I cannot imagine that I will join a choir again, but it is simply a must to keep these score. They are so dear to me and they are the most sublime music to me. Other than the vocal score, I also own the conducting score and organ part of St. Matthew Passion. All stay.

Once upon a time, my piano performance programme.

The next category was piano score. As piano was not a major subject, the atmosphere of the lessons was relaxed, I enjoyed it to the fullest. It required hard work, but it was so much fun to have played Mozart’s 2 pianos KV 448 1st movement with my friend. I will keep this score, in case I meet a duo partner who want to play this with me in the future.

Nevertheless, it is a hard fact that I play piano only for private purpose, not in public. When I am organising my score, I could not believed what I have played before. The score that I am not playing anymore are gone now. This blog post is kind of mass funeral to those score.

  1. Dmitri Kabalewski – Sonate Nr. 1 Op.13 Nr. 1
  2. Alexandre Gretchaninov – Sonatine in F Op. 110 Nr. 2
  3. Ludwig van Beethoven – 6 Bagatelles Op. 126 Nr. 1
  4. Claude Debussy – Girl With the Flaxen Hair
    and etc.

Good bye!

Then I came to organ score. Luckily a friend is going to inherit the score that I have less interest. I spent more than 30 minutes to decide to keep or to give up Max Reger’s score. He is still too important to let go, although I doubt I will learn his organ work.

The following category was vocal score. May be I will talk about my vocal score in another blog post, but no promise.

Music of the night is another piano music that I love and buried. Alberto E. Ginastera (1916 – 1983) – Danzas Argentinas – 2 Danza de la moza donosa. Good night, sleep well.
