The journey goes on

Yesterday and the day before yesterday I played two mini organ recitals in two different places. Some notes on the performances experiences:

  • The organ piece that I have confidence failed me on the first recital, but I gained the confidence again in the 2nd recital. That’s why live music is so interesting, I play differently each time, it could always be a surprise.

  • According to the feedback of the audiences, they appreciate the variety of pieces and those relatively unfamiliar organ music. This indicates that I should not be hesitant to share the music that I like. Instead, I should be true to my heart when making programme, so that I will attract true audience.

  • One organ piece turned out differently to what I wish it should be. However, musicians who can consistently achieve the desired performance results had already collected a lot of performing experiences. I just have to start somewhere at some point. I think made mistakes on stage is still better than too afraid to make mistake and never take the step.

A friend was helping me with changing stops and turning pages, I overnighted at her place. She recommended a French organ masterclass to me. We were listening to organ pieces that could be prepared for the masterclass. To me, a new horizon yet to be discovered.

The next morning, by the Main River we had brunch together. At The Old St. Nicholas Church, I lit up a candle to give thanks to God for the wonderful weekend, also prayed for His guidance for the future.

And the journey goes on.

PS, I think a journey together with you could be beautiful.
