This little fallen leaf

This little fallen leaf that I met in Cologne was carrying a song. A song that I once heard in a beautiful concert in Cologne and the season in the song is autumn. To be precise, it is an autumn dawn, the protagonist is feeling lonely, even lonelier than last year. Suddenly, a leaf has fallen, this little fallen leaf reveals the mysterious observer. Soon, the loner “I” is replaced by “us”. Even if this is only a longing not yet become reality, but the dragonflies and the autumn evenings are carrying the desire with them.

The autumn dawn is breaking
This year I am lonelier than last year

Someone is secretly watching my shadow
A leaf has fallen

Dragonflies carry the longing for us
On their shoulders

The autumn evenings take you on the way

Albertas Navickas * 1986 Ilgo rudens muzika (Music of a long autumn)

I am now back to my Spinet again, so the music for tonight is Bach’s Prelude in F sharp minor (WTK, Book II, No. 14) , BWV 883.
