Sunday afternoon, I had coffee and cake with my neighbour in her garden. On the table, there was a garden calendar. A calendar to give you garden tips every day, other than that, poetry and folk wisdoms related to garden. Today, the calendar mention about the change from winter time to summer time. As I torn away the page on Saturday, I was very excited to read this poem by Johann Ludwig Uhland. A beautiful and hopeful lyrics, besides, Schubert did write a melody to this poem. Following is music and English translation.
Faith In Spring
Johann Ludwig Uhland
Balmy breezes are awakened;
they stir and whisper day and night,
everywhere creative.
O fresh scents, O new sounds!
Now, poor heart, do not be afraid.
Now all must change.
The world grows fairer each day;
we cannot know what is still to come;
the flowering knows no end.
The deepest, most distant valley is in flower.
Now, poor heart, forget your torment.
Now all must change.

Although the song is encouraging me to have faith and look forward for a turnaround, it is still not so easy after so many failed attempts. But then the blooming flowers and new buds testified the power of life. Of course I can have faith on the one who never failed to give new life to the flower every Spring.
