My workplace

Now I can exactly count how many worship services left to accompany at the organ in Leonberg until the end of my internship on 31.12.2020. What would be in year 2021? I am open for a surprise in life, like covid19 has surprised me in this year.

I mean, if something is going to happen, it just happened without warning, quite useless to worry about. I am not so sure about how well I could be prepared for this year, if I could predict about covid19 before it arrived. I might only ended up with buying more loo roll, and the virus still spread. The 2nd wave of the covid19 in western countries showed the naked truth that the situation is not getting better despite prevention plan. Irresponsibility, ignorance, and selfishness are the most dangerous virus. Instead of worrying about the non predictable future, I would rather invest my energy in being a responsible and a selfless person.

And even if it isn’t covid19 that happened in this year, it doesn’t mean that it would not be other challenges. So stop daydreaming about the better life without covid19 if I have not learned how to deal with challenges. What I have learned so far? Pray about everything. Cry over the loss. After that, try to make every moment count to avoid further regret. Pay less attention to the things that I might could have but be thankful for everything I have.

One thing to be thankful about is my faithful companion – organ. Let me share with you how my workplace looks like.

On Sunday worship service, I usually play on this organ at the 3rd floor. I also have nice memory with this organ by playing Rheinberger Op.150 with my violinist.

With this portable chamber organ, I played Händel organ concerto (solo), Bach’s BWV 147 & Mozart’s KV339 (basso continuo), Vivaldi’s La Notte (orchestra part). All premier, first time in my life.

Another thing to be thankful about are those musicians who build me up in organ playing. My organ professor for 4 years in college Prof. Walther and my mentor KMD Kalman are feeding me with organ lessons/ recordings this year.

One interesting fact: The organ master class with Prof. Lohmann last year sublimated my understanding of Bach’s organ composition. I signed up for the master class again this year, of course it has been cancelled. As I was applying for internship in Leonberg, I did not check if Kalman learned organ from Lohmann. I do not think this is a coincidence, so I am very thankful I can continue to learn organ indirectly from Lohmann through Kalman.

Whatever they said, music is essential or not, never mind. For I clearly know that, music sustains my life, great luck to have organ in this pandemic year. I just can not imagine otherwise.
